Your role
Working within FLEETCOR’s IT Development team, ensuring that our Software delivers exemplary development solutions, whilst meeting both the client and audience objectives. Providing troubleshooting and methodical diagnostic skills to resolve issues restore service and ensure root causes are fixed. Working directly with business analysts and IT professionals, exercising sound judgment within defined best practices, engaging with the business with the highest levels of professionalism and integrity.

ABOUT A THE DEVOPS ENGINEER

Working across the organisation, the DevOps engineer is responsible for architecting and building automated deployment patterns providing quicker, more agile deployments. They act as a key intermediary between Developers, Network Infrastructure, quality assurance and release teams, building systems to get new features into the hands of customers in a safe way. The DevOps Engineer is responsible for engaging in deployment early in the release cycle; providing resilience in deployment and infrastructure allowing developers to experiment and innovate more.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Continually assess deployment practices and working methods, identifying areas of improvement
  • Be able and prepared to learn, understand and implement a range of technologies to support automated delivery.
  • Promote code delivery and methods that support rapid deployment
  • Support and train staff across the business to enable adoption of DevOps practices.
  • Be a reliable bridge between software development and network infrastructure teams to assist in deployment
  • Review system architecture at an early stage, providing expertise in deployment from the inception of projects.
  • Ensure that the quality and documentation of DevOps solutions are maintained.
  • communicate technologies used clearly to key stakeholders to demystify the process of deployment to non-technical stakeholders.

Internal: Technology teams in UK, EU, ANZ and US External: Partners & outsource providers
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
A proven track record of being able to operate in a fast-paced culture, with a high degree of interpersonal and influencing skills and an ability to work cross-culturally to improve collaboration within IT at the global level. Furthermore, the ability to support organizational objectives to drive change in the DevOps sphere, generating buy in from internal and external stakeholders on the deployment process to ensure automated deployment is a top priority from a project’s inception.
This role requires the technical flexibility to support all ends of the Fleetcor EU Infrastructure stack including:
  • Microsoft Servers
  • Linux Servers on RedHat
  • Cloud (AWS) hosted solutions
  • Server-side scripting on Windows and Linux (PowerShell & Bash)
  • Containerization (Docker)
  • Container Orchestration (Kubernetes & OpenShift)
  • Security understanding, encryption, and defensive practices
An understanding across the full dev stack of a range of programming languages and their deployments including:
  • Python
  • C# (.net and .netCore)
  • JavaScript
  • SQL
  • Microservices & Messaging (Nats/ RabbitMQ)
The agility to move between technologies and platforms used for CICD to support deployments and teams across the international business and to support the shift from Azure Devops over to GitLab. These include:
  • Azure DevOps,
  • GitLab
  • Logging and monitoring technologies, Splunk, etc
